Well I listened and I have done everything as suggested. All though I didn't buy a new mig I found a Craftsman 120 mig for sell I paid 150.00 and it came with the gauges for the argon.

Things are going well now and I am learning how to weld with a mig. A welder in town said 5 minutes on a mig and you will think you are a Pro. Not exactly after a couple of days I am still messing around with the wire feed and the heat and the wire. Got frustrated quit a lot. But it is getting better now.

Here is the next thing I need help with I am sending a link to dropbox for a pic. I just need to know the best way to handle this rusted out part.

Cut the gas off on the mig when you can lay a bead without it then you can weld and may turn the gas back on. All the parts to replace are available.

Nope .. a welding wire designed for use with shielding gas cannot be used without shielding gas, no matter how "good' a welder you are, well, unless you perhaps have divine intervention or if you perhaps live in an atmosphere free "vacuum".

With semi-automatic mig welding the shielding gas "shields" the weld from the atmosphere. Flux core wire and manual stick welding uses a flux that covers the weld...

Take away the shielding or the flux and you end up with severe porosity.

Yeah tell me, yesterday I left the Co2 off and welded for two hours and accomplished almost nothing did more grinding then welding. But I am still learning how to weld and didn't realize the mistake and kept welding. The next day I did everything right and I got a lot done and it look real good.

I thought that there wasn't a replacement part for the part in the pic but after reading your post Dado I called bothers and it is on its way "Thanks"

The lower A-pillar patch panel, is available from all the usual suspects.

Good shielding gas and clean parent & sister material, is paramount in laying down a good bead with a MIG machine.

We have found, all aftermarket rocker panels are not created equal, however I get your drift on the contour issue.
