So I thought I had the VIN all figured out - and I do seeing as its pretty clear on the ID plate. It's a 37 built in Janesville in July. The data on production numbers from 37 says there were 3023 3/4 ton trucks produced so wouldn't the highest vin # be 4024? Mines 8924

The vehicle serial number started at 1001 at each plant and is the sequence number for all models.

The data link you provided is data out of the service manual which I have. Note the document date of 12/36 which must be prior to the start of 3/4 ton production. Also note the doc refers to 1/2 and 1 1/2 T vehicles (as well as sedans) but nothing on a 3/4 T.

Still trying to understand how mine has a 8924 sequence number if only 3024 vehicles of that model were produced

what you need to note Brian, is the production sequence numbers do not apply to each model separately, but to the production of all trucks at the plant, yours was 8924 out of all models

So is there any production data specific to Janesville? Of the nearly 92,000 trucks produced in the 37 MY, what was produced where?

AFAIK, all plants produced all models, both cars and trucks, in order to control shipping distances no doubt, which is why there were/are plants around the country .... and I've never seen any number breakdown for individual plants, just general weight class breakdowns for overall production of a year, light, medium duty and heavy
