I am wondering about the paint colors under the hood. What color should the firewall (front of cab) be? I assume it is the color of the rest of the cab. Also, is the under side of the hood also the color of the truck? I have seen a few restos that have had it painted black, no matter the finished truck color. I am not sure this is right either. I am looking to be as factory correct as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

I must have the only trucks in the country with the firewall painted the primary body color. Must be a midwest thing.

Check out the build photos on our website, for paint breaks and colors, we have adopted over the years on our projects, primarily 4-5-6 Chevy trucks.

All three of my 1966 trucks were fawn. They also were built at the Lakewood plant near Atlanta.

Anyone care to post photos?

Seems like only east coast jobs got the fawn firewall. All mine have been cab color(most from St Louis one from Fremont).

My truck is an original 66 and the firewall is the same as the body color and the underside of the hood is black.
