I ordered a turn signal from Chevy Duty and can't seem to get it working. Been on it two days now and am getting more confused all the time. What is happening is that when I get the brake lights to work and also the turn signals, then when I turn on the park lights, the brake lights do not work. I believe I may have to rewire the tail lights all over since whoever had the truck before me used multi colored wires going to one location and kind of hard to trace. tail lights have two bulbs in each. Would it be best to use one bulb in each taillight and also not pigtail from the left to the right. Would this make it easier to wire. The signal switch has 7 wires. Reason I mention to eliminate pigtail and rewire is that when I fix one problem, it messes up the other. (Example: brake lights work, after turn signals wired, then tail lights don't work. etc.) If brake lights are flashing and you turn on the park lights, then the brakes lights do not work anymore. I'm confused. :confused: | | |

Without going into specific troubleshooting, I will say that there is a wonderful Tech-Tip by "cletis" dealing with turn signals.
Between the instructions supplied (I hope) by Chevy Duty and Cletis's tech-tip article, you will be blinking in no time.
Lots of folks will probably be along soon to help with this problem, but reading the tech-tip first might answer some of your own questions.

Got the lights up and running. Threw out the directions, rewired the whole thing, eliminated previous owners wiring, and now it all works. Thanks for your reply the other day. | | |

This site has helped me alot in restoring my 51. Truck is stock and in good shape (except I took it completely apart.) Doing a little each day, tomorrow will be brakes, next day something else. This site is great, has helped me alot and everyone is anxious to be helpful. All the advise and tips have made my work easier. This is about my 8th old vehicle (mostly streetrods in the past) Going back to originals like in school days in 1963. I would post update photos to this site but not computer smart enough to know how. Again, thanks to everyone. | | |
