Mine went south on me. It quit putting out air. There were some loose parts that have signs of being knocked around on the intake side of the compressor and my guess is they have something to do with the opening and closing of the intake valves. I don't know my terminology when it comes to these compressors and I'm not sure if replacing this component will suffice. The component I'm speaking of is a rectangular looking piece that sits left to the air compressor's muffler.
I took the head off and the pistons and cylinders look fine.

I have been away from the big stuff for many years but we used to get comps. rebuilt. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy rautru, it could be that the compressor unloader pistons became stuck in the open position (quite common) that would stop the compressor from pumping. Could you take some pictures of the compressor and find the identification plate on the side of the block and post the pictures and tell us what the plate says? They do sell unloader piston kits for the popular compressors, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 127 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 127 | Hey 3B,
will do. I should be able to take pictures on Wednesday and try posting links on Thursday. These unloader piston kits you have are DYI (Do It Youself)? I am mechanically inclined. And how much do they go for?

My '57 9200 LCF has Air Over, but it has a full air treadle pedal. I've never seen another one like it. It's gonna be a great day.
