Hi All,

After three days of penetrating oil and elbow grease, the two bolts for the master cylinder are not budging. I was able to remove the hydraulic line and the armature/rod cotter and pin.

Is there anything apecial I need to know about the MC mounting bolts? I assume the nut on the backside of the bracket is welded to the bracket? Is this mounting bolt only threaded to the bracket nut or are there threads through the MC assembly?

Is it ok to apply brute force to these bolts to get them to release?

Mine was not really a nut, more so a steel plate with 2 tapped holes. It was not welded to the frame.

I was able to get it the break loose by putting a pipe on a 1/2" drive ratchet.

Correct, the "nut" is a rectangular bar with tapped holes for both bolts.
Some penetrating oil and lots of torque is you best bet. Even if you break off a bolt or two you'll be OK in the end, they and the nut plate can be replaced. If it comes to it, with the nut plate out you can probably remove the broken bolts.
