Hi All,

I have been looking at lots of pictures on the forums and the internet attempting to figure out what the original finishes were on the various mouldings in a 1948 cab interior but I have not been able to tell if the mouldings have been repainted, chromed, rechromed or original so now I am totally confused.

Here is the first pic: Headliner and Door Mouldings

Item 1: What is the original finish on the headliner moulding?

Item 2. What is this called and what is the original finish? Also, where do I get the underlying rubber seal?

Item 3. The window moulding appears to be chromed.

Here is the second pic: Front Windshield Mouldings

I would assume the front windshield mouldings were orginally chromed like the door window mouldings? I've seen these mouldings painted on lots of cab interiors, not sure if painted is original or not.

What was the original finish on the windshield center moulding?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Sincerely,
jose

I am currently doing a '48 2 ton.
Everything in the inside is painted the same color.
The rubber "windlace" is available on line.

The headliner bow #1 is as stated interior cab color. The door weatherstripping surround #2 is also cab color. #3 is a bit unique, this is actually stainless steel not chrome and you can polish it to look like new. This trim was part of the deluxe cab option, trucks without it are painted cab color like the previous parts. Here is a picture of the polished stainless on my truck.

The full set includes inner/outer trim on the doors and windshield surround on the outside only, all trucks have the outside polished center piece. The inside pieces are cab color on all trucks.
Just a note the 60+ year old stainless was completely oxidized when I found it on a parts truck. A few minutes each on my buffing wheel and it looked new and has stayed new looking, it is very high quality material.
