I have a 54 3600 with a 235. I just got Tom Langdons dual carb set up and going to get the Fenton intake from Patrick this weekend. I would really like yo keep my original exhaust manifold, because I have new single exhaust all the way back. Is what I want to do feasible? Tom says everyone just changes the exhaust anyway.
Thanks
Sharon

Going with an increase in fuel delivery without improving exhaust flow would seem to be contradictory to me. Maybe you can have a muffler shop tweak your recently installed single exhaust to fit one of the dual exhaust ports and have the other half of the dual exhaust added.

I really didn't want to increase performance. I just got the carbs because i have had so much trouble with the Rochester leaking at the inlet.

Hey Sharon,

As 52Carl stated improving the intake side and not the exhaust side does seem a little silly to me but there are more experienced Stovebolter's here that can answer you better. Since you talked with Tom I would call Patrick Sr. and ask him. I bought the dual intake from Patrick's, the pair of Carter/Webber carbs from Tom, and also purchased the split manifold headers from E-Bay.

Just make sure if you decide to use your original exhaust manifold that it fits on the new intake.

Make sure you keep the heat to the intake manifold weather its exhaust heat or hot water. I think Tom likes hot water and Patrick likes exhaust.

It you have an oil by-pass filter on you 235 I think you will have to relocate the filter since the intake is round and the Fenton is square. I am not sure what years has what but on my 56 I had to make a bracket for it. On the first since that picture I welded on an end cap and had it powder coated.

good luck and keep us informed on what works out for you.

I guess I was a little confusing. I just need to know if the manifolds will not interfeer with one another. Tiny, you said to watch your clearance. I can understand that. I have located a full pressure filter below the generator. I will heat them in some manner.By the way a very nice set up on the filter.
Thanks Sharon

Nearly any aftermarket manifold swap will require some tweaking, whether using one stock one or replacing both.

The Fentons supposedly use one stock pipe and one custom one. I've never tried it.

Mothertrucker will beat Patrick's price all to heck on the manifolds.

Fenton dual intake and dual exhaust manifolds work together nicely.

Cletis is correct, you use the regular/stock exhaust line on one of the Fenton headers.

Fenton header heat to a plate on the base of the intake is the easiest way to get heat to the intake manifold, but water/coolant heat works fine.

if you try to use a stock exhaust/fenton intake, you probably won't get a bolt up fit, I went with a stock intake and fenton headers and had to grind/cut the little clamp pieces quite a lot in a couple of places to get them to fit. (once you start, you will see what I mean) some people grind the intake/headers, I preferred to gouge up the $5 easily replaceable parts rather than the $200 piece. However you can do as you please.

What do mean by gouge up the $5 parts? What parts are these?
Thanks

Tiny I opened up your pics and see the plate on the bottom of the intake where the exh manifold bolts to. Must be nice being able to put truck parts on your kitchen table. Ha Ha.

I now have a 1954 intake and a set of Fenton headers on my 1960 261 engine. They bolted-up without any grinding.

Hold on there Tiny, I did not type nor imply "silly". If Sharon wants to go with only changing to dual carbs but not dual exhaust, then that's her prerogative. I was just trying to bring up a point about improved performance.
