The article had a link that discussed putting a 1949 or 1959 passenger car tank between the frame rails.
I just cannot find it.

First let me say, nice truck and nice job on your skills.
So I have a couple of questions;
I believe that you used the standard steel tank verses the stainless steel tank. The web page for Tanks.com talks about the SS tank and today's fuels. Have you had any problems with your tank?
How is the filler tube attached to the tank. Is it possible for me to adapt to it? I have a fleetside so I want to make sure if needed to I can change the hose that is attached. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 | Thanks for the accolades fellas.  Rusty64, I have had no issues with the tank being steel. (Tanks didn't offer a '49-52 Chevy car stainless or plastic tank back when I did my conversion.) I do use Stabil fuel stabilizer when I store the truck over the winter, and at about every third fill up the rest of the year, that probably helps some. Worth noting is probably 95% of all trucks of our era use steel tanks, and use "modern" fuels. The filler attaches via an anodized steel flange with a steel tube that bolts to the tank. The included filler tube fastens to that with a hose clamp.
