The other end of the horn wire screws to the outside of the column. Does anybody sell or rent the special puller tool? Or is there another way to pull the bearing? Then what's a good way to get that wire back inside where it belongs?

Mine was tired and a puller would have only removed the inner race. It has a lip around the outside you should be able to get a screwdriver on. Tie or tape a wire to the end and when you pull it through attach the new wire and pull it back.

I'm glad to know it worked. If I screw up (1st time in my life, of course) I'll try the puller like 2many2 says. Same with snagging the wire before pulling it out. Thanks aplenty.
