In another post from Pre"68 Dave, he mentioned the triangle mark on the flywheel was for checking valve timing. Could someone explain this to me?

If you are specifically interested in your 1955-2nd 235 (F255X engine ID), this section of the Shop Manual might enlighten (and confuse) you?

Tim, I'm a gear head so I understand cams, lift duration etc. I didn't understand what triangle was for. I see now that it's for checking timing gear wear, or to make sure the timing gears were installed correctly. "Thank you" for educating me with the link you posted.
