My 48 3100 is in need of a new under bed fuel tank, brackets, the works. I can get a complete replacement system ,mounting brackets, sender etc. for about $525.00 that's half of what I paid for the whole truck.(Yes I found a smokin deal) My question is this , Is there a cheaper alternative that mounts along the frame in the stock location. I want to keep the under bed spare tire in place. Thanks

On a 48 3100, wasn't the stock location behind the seat?

A complete new setup for $525 sounds like a really good price for what you're getting.

1949 was the first year to have the tank behind the seat.
Not that they are any easier to find but
Carryall/Suburban used the same tank as your 48.
