Been fixing up the 50 Chevy 3100 and working on issues as I find them. When I run the engine, it appears that the ammeter is not moving. I looked at the generator, but couldn't figure out which terminal is Field and which is Armature. Looking from the front of the generator, there are to terminals. The only markings are two triangles. One by each terminal. One points to the front of the generator and the other points to the back. I saw a general statement online that said "when looking from the front, the Field terminal is on the right". As for the generator, it's a Delco Remy 1102711, which was cataloged for a 49/50 Pontiac.

is it hooked up? you regulator should be marked B - A - F .... are you sure the gauge is good? have you used a multimeter on the battery to see if it's being charged while the engine is running?

Yes, the battery is getting a charge. My main question was how to tell which generator terminal is which. They're not marked A or F. As I mentioned in my post, there are two stamped triangles, one by each terminal. One faces towards the front (pulley) and the other faces towards the rear (firewall). I wish they had marked them A and F. One person said tou look at the terminals from the front of the engine and the Field is on the right. But someone else said you look from the back, so now the Field is on the right. Confusing!!!

if the generator is hooked up and working, then you should have the markings on the regulator it's hooked to, to tell A from F, just follow the wires wink
