Follow instructions and installed. Cannot get spark. Now the details. 6-volt system, 235 engine, new battery, coil, starter, generator, regulator, Checked & cleaned all connections. New coil rates 1.7 amps, (1.5 amps required) Pertronix part number 1167P6. New rotor and distributor cap, cleaned inside the distributor really good. Man the truck looks good but I cannot get it to run. Tried the Pertronix help line/answering macine. They faxed the same instrictions that were in the box. Please can someone help?

[I just checked a 1940 Shop Manual and it indicates a negative ground. This might be your problem.]

I have used a 6v kit without any 12v power for over 2 years.
I also have a '54 pickup with 12v negative ground electrical system conversion and a Pertronix 12v kit.

What I learned was that you have to retime the engine. Its not just a drop in and go. I also learned that I could not seat the part that goes down over the shaft. I had to raise it just a bit to get the hall effect and reluctor ligned up. Build yourself a little test light or buy one. Put one end to ground, the other to the distributor side of the coil and hand crank the engine. Make sure the light goes on and off six times per distributor revolution. At first (until I raised the reluctor a little) I only got two flashes.
