If you look under the hood you will see a split in the center seam for the hole location and fastener for the truck ornament. Hopefully yours will be similar.

If you look at our 54 it has an original hood ornament , that should give you a general idea where it goes. Murray

thanks guys i will take a look and let you know, hope it is as easy as you say DADS50 to locate the correct position, it will save a lot of messing around with measurements etc.

well i had a look and yes there are breaks in the seam but not in the right position as mentioned, they are way too close to the windsheild end of the hood.
some might say `just put the ornament on the hood, move it up and down until you get the correct position and work it out from there` the problem i have with that is i cannot remove the bolts from the ornament to get it close enough to do this.
the way i have ended up working out where to drill holes is basicly hold the ornament to roughly the correct position and measure the distance between the hood and ornament at the front and back until they are the same then i marked where the bolts were touching the hood thus making this the place to drill holes.
i shall let you know how i get on and if i can work out how to post a picture, i will. i will also take measurments of where i drill the holes for future reference in case anyone else out there wishes to install a hood ornament at some time.
