Any one else encountered this ? I know the truck is not its original color.
Steve | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | quite common, STD trim is the default cheap interior with painted exterior grill, etc, and special for the paint would be something that was ordered by a customer - I had a 57 panel that was 'special' on the color, and it was emergency yellow, ordered by a logging company for a camp ambulance, it had been repainted white but still had the yellow firewall ... look under where pieces bolt together to detective an original color, like the lap of the inner fenders on outers, under where the hood hinges are mounted on the firewall, etc, if it didn't have a real good quality repaint you'll find traces of the original color someplace

And that would be the best for someone wanting to paint their truck a what ever they want color.
I wonder if records were made of what color for what serial number truck?

The color was a special order for an individual customer or part of a fleet order for a company. Thanks for the the tips on locating an area of original paint. The truck apears to have been disassembled for paint. Would these special orders have come through a dealer or perhaps a central office order in the case of a fleet of trucks. (COPO) ?
