Hey guys i jsut bought a 1962 C 40 12' flatbed. Would like to hear from anyone who has one of these trucks. I think 62 was the last year for the c40 but not sure. It has the torsion bar front end. I also have 1963 c 10 stepside c 20 custom fleet side and my daily driver isa 65 stepside. I have other chevrolets but realy like the old 60's. Easy to drive and find parts. Thanks for any help Matthew

I don't know anything about the C40, but feel free to post some pics of all your trucks. Especially the '63's.... I really, really like '63's wink

Hey, they shouldn't have shiny paint jobs in my opinion. These trucks look better with the dull paint and a few scratches and dents. They look just plain strange otherwise.

There's a '60 Apache 40 in a local junkyard here... I'm saving money to get it.

Yes '62 was the last year for the C40 according to the foreword in my 1963 shop manual.

As far as I knew only 1/2 and 3/4 tons used torsion bars prior to '63. You learn something new every day! I know that in 1963 all trucks went to coil springs.

I do know for a fact that 1962 was the last year for ball bearings in the front spindles. They started using tapered roller bearings in 1963.
