I am still learning all kinds of things about my truck. I am have been thinking about pulling the leaf springs and either having them rebuilt or buying new ones. I went under the truck yesterday and found that the front had 8 leafs and the rear had 7. Does this make sense to anyone? If I were to rebuild or buy new ones should the rear be 8? It doesn't look like someone removed a leaf from the rear but I am not sure.

I would suggest that you look up the specs for the springs on your truck. The number of leaves on the front have nothing to do with the number on the rear ones.

Here's a link to a 53 Chevy truck manual. I don't see any reason why the GMC and Chevy truck suspensions would be different.
