While I had the head off I noticed the pistons had .040 stamped on them. I had assumed this engine had never been opened up. So having .040 pistons indicate its been overhauled? Thanks, Phil | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,513 | It takes considerable cylinder scoring to require a .040" overbore on the first rebuild so there's a possibility it's been done twice. Look for a 10, 20, or 30 stamped somewhere near the front of the block typically indicating how much the crank has been ground.
