Alright guys I've been wanting to restore a truck for awhile but I've been bein picky long story short I finally bought one for what I thought was a good dealit was advertised as a 66' however after bbuy-in it I ran the vin and it comes back as a 61' but it's got a 62' hood and grill is there a chance it might be like a 61.5'? With the new hood and grille?

Not likely. Probably the most changed body panel on a '60 -61 is the change to the '62-66 style hood. Ironically the 60-61 hoods are now very sought after.

So your truck has the wrap around windshield, right? Got any photos?

There was a time when the auto industry introduced new models in September of the preceding year. Your truck could be a 62 sold in 61 and then registered by the state as the year sold in. not uncommon.

As said, it was common for the hoods to be switched.
In fact, I've read the '60-'61 hoods were very expensive to produce, and GM didn't run any more for the crash repair market after the model year, instead telling dealers to install a '62 hood.
The '60-'61 hoods also had a problem with rusting, making them even more difficult to find.

Odd that someone would change the grill for a '62 though. '62 should be a 1-headlight grill, but the headlight housing looks like they just adapted the 4-headlight housing to hold one bulb... I think they look awkward... an afterthought.
