I'm going tomorrow to look at buying a 65 full ton
Regular rear axle nine foot step side bed 305 four speed. Never seen one and
Wanted to hear thoughts in them.

I have a 66 C30 dump, you can't beat it mine has a 292 manual steering manual brakes it is very reliable not the most comfort friendly truck. If it's in good shape you'll get a lot of use out of it.

Good Luck Dave

Well, did you? I have the same truck with a 283 and 4.10 gears and drive it everywhere. Same rear and trans as your '56 3/4 (if its a four speed and they are both Chevrolet). I love mine. Being a '65 you get IFS, which also makes a disk brake swap super easy and cheap, if you want that. Pretty uncommon configuration - mine is the only one I've ever seen around here. (I remember seeing another on craigslist, but thinking back, I think it was actually the same truck)

Some of my crap:
1963 C-30 flatbed dually 292/SM420
1965 C-10 LWB fleet 250/column shift 3 speed
1965 C-30 9' stepside 250/SM420/4.10 gears (my DD)

Website I made for my crap:

I have a 1963 dually with a 250 six banger 4 speed and 4.10s, still manual steering manual brakes. It is my daily driver. Built like a train car. A bulletproof truck if there ever was one. Is it a GMC 305 V6? If so I think you'll be very happy with the mammoth torque that motor produces!!
