looking for a 6 lug rear end for my 51 3600 project. was reccomended a semi float 14 bolt with a 3.78 but can only find 8 lugs listed in my area. what is showing up is a lot of late model 6 lug rears from suburbans. would these work? thanks again for all the help

1951 3600 is a 3/4 ton with 8 lugs. If you are trying to replace the 3/4 ton axles with 1/2 ton 6 lug axles, look for a 1960s 12 bolt truck axle, or a 10 bolt truck axle from a 4x4 up to about 1988. Those axles are relatively common, have a ton of gear choices, are usually pretty narrow between 61 and 64 inches wheel mount to wheel mount, depending on year and application.

Any suburban axle after 1990 will likely be too wide... unless you like the look of having the wheels outside the fenders.

thanks, i need the six lug to match the disc kit i installed on the front. its a flat bed so i wasnt too concerned if the wheels stick out a bit how much wider would the later model suburban be? i was thinking if it wasnt too wide i could get a complete rear end with decent lower mileage drums or even discs. appreciate it

THE WIDTH AND THE GEAR RATIO SHOULD BE THE MOST IMPORTANT ON SELECTING A REAR END THE AXELS CAN ALWAYS BE REDRILLED OR MADE TO THE LUG PATTERN YOU WANT, THE LAST ONE I DID WAS OUT OF A 77 CHEVELLE AND I REDRILLED THE AXEL
