I've got it set to run a 500 rpm at idle but when I pull up to a stop light/sign it sticks at about 1,000 rpm until I goose it then it will release and go down to 500. It is an annoyance to be sure and is slightly dangerous when I'm braking and have to get off the brake to goose it.
My question: What would you all recommend to lube the "joints" in the linkage to help with this? Also because of all of the work I did detailing the truck I don't want grease all over at least until I've had it for a few years if possible.
Thanks in advance!!!

You've worked on it all these years and now you're done. Seems the truck wants you to keep wrenchin' - it likes it! LOL!
I'll be watching for the answer and lube my linkage with the same stuff.

That was funny. I read it to my wife and she even laughed. I hope it's not true.

Pedal linkage may need lubed and/or return springs renewed.(carb return spring and any others). You should be able to repeat the sticking with engine off by having someone push on pedal while you watch to see if throttle returns to carb stop screw. I am guessing pedal linkage as in: Some hole is wallowed out or cotter pin is goofed up or just needs oiled. You can test your carb throttle linkage/butterfly shaft with the pedal linkage removed to see if it "snaps" back like it should. Then you will know if it's that or pedal or, as Bill says, the choke doing something.(engine off tests). | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,262 | Can't go wrong with the stronger return spring. On my truck the black plastic gas foot pedal sticks on the tip of the metal rod linkage, in the cab, and raises the idle about 400 rpm. Is yours maybe doing the same? I have a replacement pedal a buddy gave me, just haven't installed it yet. | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 207 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 207 | Bill - I thought probably choke also but it's good. Bart - good advice, I'll disconnect the pedal linkage and check the carb. I think it's in the carb linkage. John - I'll look at the pedal and the metal rod but I'm not thinking that's it.
I've got this on my list of things to do on Saturday. I'll let you all know. Thanks.
