Problem is, the 216 is shorter than the 228 and the mounts don't line up. Has anyone done this type of swap before? Is there a kit out there for this? '37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

Is the 216 just a 'short term' transplant so you can drive for now? Or is this going to be how it runs for a few years? What you do now that has to be undone later only seems worth it if your waiting a while on the 228 to me...

You will also need to modify the exhaust head pipe and throttle linkage.

The clearance for replacing the fan belt can be a little tight with the larger 235 balancer.
