I think my tank sender unit is bad but I need to know how to wire the fuel gauge looking at it from the backside of the guage ( 1955 GMC PU ).
Does the wire from the Ign on switch go to the Empty side of the fuel gauge or the full side?
Thanks Phxamigo

My 38 goes to the passenger side of the fuel guage. Without a wiring diagram I'd hook it that way with enough extra wire to reach the other side of the guage if necessary, turn the switch on & see what happens. Make sure you have a good ground to the tank.

Thanks for your help Tiny , I'll give it a try & hope it works. If not I'll have to replace the tank sending unit before trying again.

You can go to the Fifth Avenue web site
www.fifthaveinternetgarage.com and look up the Runtz and just below the description is the install instructions. Tthe second page of the install instructions is a step by step guide on how to determine if the sender is bad or the dash gauge or the wiring. Print that off and you will know for sure who the bad guy is....Randy

That is a very interesting writeup of the Runtz. Apparently it is not a resistor becuase it is polarity sensitive. That is a nice site too. It is nice to see someone selling parts that they developed themselves.
