The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Small job with a Preval sprayer

I have a small area on the firewall of my 51 3100 that I repaired and want to paint with a Preval sprayer. I purchased a quart of the Forester Green acrylic enamel paint from Jim Carter to see how it matched up to the original paint on my firewall. I had a shop use some of that paint on a front splash apron (my truck was missing the splash apron) and the match was great! So now I want to use that same paint that is leftover on my firewall project but I dont know squat about painting. My questions: What primer should I use under acrylic enamel, and how do I dilute the paint before I put into the sprayer?

All that reducer info should be on the tech sheet for the paint. Rustoleum metal primer would be fine.

Jim Carter did not provide tech sheets for paint I bought from him. He did not provide the brand/line of paint, either.

A while ago, someone posted that it was DuPont Centari acrylic enamel.

Thanks! I did not get a tech sheet either so I was wondering what to do next! (Actually I figured it was lost amongst all the other parts and tools in the garage!) fortunately i am putting parts ack ONTO the truck now and my garage is magically getting bigger!

Update: The Preval sprayer did a great job...extra bottles and power cartridges available at my local NAPA. This is a very good option for small patch work and the bottles seal up well between jobs or when switching to a different paint. Thanks again for the help!

The main reason I won't get body paint from carter, no tech nothin there. The engine paint works great.
