The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Big Bolts Hard mounted 1941 1.5 Ton?

I swear my trucks bell housing was bolted directly to the cross-member without benefit of rubber. I can see the outlines of the mounting brackets. And, there are bushings between the flanges of the cross member that are still in place. I've looked at thousands (ok, hundreds) of pictures and I can't find a good viewing of that year truck showing the bell-housing bolted to the frame. Are the advertised rubber motor mounts for the 1941 Chevy 1.5 ton an upgrade? I would sure like to see a "clean" picture of a 1941 Chevy bell-housing mounted to the frame. Thanx in advance

I'm not sure what you mean by "bushings between the flanges of the cross member that are still in place." My '46 cross member is one piece riveted to frame rails. It dips down in the middle. The bell housing has ears on it that stick out and bolt down to the cross member. There is rubber in the ears sticking off the bell housing.

The bell housing can not be attached solidly to the frame or you would quickly break something. Your frame flexes and moves as you go over bumps. The rubber also isolates vibration from the engine and transmission.

I will try to go out and get some pictures of my truck a little later.

if its anything like it was on my 40. all the rubber was dissolved from one thing or another through the years. get new mounts and they will last as long as you own the truck.

Thank you both for getting back to me. There are bushings in the cross member so the bolt travels through both flanges and out the bottom. The brackets "ears" have no rubber on them and bolted straight to the cross member. I will post a couple of pictures shortly.

-on the left side of the mount the little sliver is the rubber.

These two are from an extra engine/trans I got from a 2ton...not sure if '41 or '46.

the rubber cushion is dissingrated thats all. if it is something different then somebody added them in the back yard.

If one cannot find exactly what one wants, rubber snowplow blade mat'l comes 1" thick, 4" wide, as long as one wants to make your own. Works well for all kinds of mounts, easily cut to fit, trans., bottom of radiator, etc.

Junger, I looked at your pics. Thank you for taking the time to do that. And Ashton, thank you for the part number. What company do you recommend? You have helped me before. The 3 latest pictures on my photobucket site show what I have. I believe that at one time these brackets were encased in rubber. In any event, hopefully I can find the rubber mount that will work with these brackets. Or, replace them with a complete rubber mounted system that works with my 1941 Chevy Bellhousing.
