I went out to see what he was up to. He said he worked at the technical college I had spent some time at, and wanted to use it as a class project for the body work. I'm not really sure what to think. I do know they have all the equipment to do the work, and the instructors are very competent. I would have to pay for parts but labor would be free. I think I will at least take it down and see what the guy has to say.

As long as it's legit. Talk to the instructor and make sure that they are capable of doing it the way you want it. In my auto shop in HS I restored a spitfire for the shop teacher!!! that was funny, a 16 year old that could weld and do hammer work better than the teacher. but I'd say I'm a rare case in that I grew up in a shop. regardless do a risk/reward analysis and go from there. I wish my local HS had a ambitious teacher as I offered to have them restore one of my trucks(I have many) at my cost, their labor/learning. he didn't want to as it was too much work. he has them learn to change oil,filters, and tires all year, then wonders why the kids lose interest. that's my rant.
