on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 91 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2010 Posts: 91 | Well I took my 46 Chevy 2-ton out for a shake-down drive for the first time, well, ever. It likes to follow uneven roads something terrible. After employing Wifey to turn the steering wheel side-to-side I fount both ends of the drag link are shot. I see Jim Carter offers a drag link that he says fits 1/2-ton to 1 1/2-ton trucks. What is the difference between that drag link and the one on my 2-ton? Are they interchangeable? If not, where can I find one for my truck?
Thanks everyone, Brian

My drag link is also worn. Sounds like we may be removing the old and reaming out to accept something modern? Don't know when I will have time, but I'll update you when I get into this! If you come up with something please let us know!

It was the one from the pitman arm to the left wheel. They have a lot of army surplus stuff. There in nashville ga. 1-800-2488785. ask for Mike | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 120 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 120 | I have a 47 1.5 ton. I got a drag link kit from somewhere in the US, I think it was truckandcarshop.com. The drag link came up fine. I dont know if they are the same on the 46, or the two ton. With a grease gun I pumped a pound of dirt out of each tie rod end. Amazingly they seem OK- but I dont trust them. I cant see new ones anywhere- does anyone know of a tie rod end off a modern truck that will fit, or a source?
cheers

I actually lucked out and found a very good original drag link in the box of parts I got with the truck. Had to literally cut the old one off (everything rusted into one piece) but the replacement snapped right on with no issues. If I still don't like the steering feel I'll probably go the tie-rod end route.
