Stupid gasket on the top of the InnerLine canister didn't seat correctly. Lost three and a half quarts and I left a trail from my house to the gas station where I pulled in.
Now I have to decide if I want to dump the generic 10w-40 I added to get home and refill with the good stuff (20-50 w/zddp) or just leave it for now. I vote the "peace of mind" approach. Put the good stuff back in. Agreed. On the up side, it's, for the first time since I've owned it, reading 15 on the gauge when I have the gas down, right around 14 when cruising and just a little under that at idle. | | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 1 Moderated | Moderated Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 1 | Sorry to interrupt. Measured several times, cut, and cleaned up areas best i could. All fitted up and mostly tacked all the way around. Took me about 20 hrs all together. Next weekend work on cab rear lower patches and sill plate.

Perhaps not. That old steel and iron is heavy no matter what you try to do to it! Still having some issues with getting the headlight gasket held in with the bezel clips. Started looking at my dash to figure out where to install. i work with these switches which are used to operate industrial pumps, circuit breakers, ... SO, I will have to design a control circuit with kill switch and relay to support getting rid of ignition switch. something unique. uploaded picture to my link

| | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 60 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 60 | Jim, primarily security as we know that ignition switches can be jumpered. I considered simple hidden kill switches, and other options as well. With no ignition switch this will throw off curious onlookers. I will still have another kill switch elsewhere. The function and use of the GE SBM switch/contacts will not be obvious and i will introduce some "misdirection" in my control logic as well. But the use of the switch is also based on my work with these switches. Makes the truck personal. I will also use the switch to light off a horn if switch is turned by the uninformed.

Seems like the last owner welded in a piece of metal into the fender to fix some rust. But he did not line it up properly so the gap between the hood and fender disappeared as it went towards the cab. So he cut the fender by the A pillar and moved it outwards. So the door was now too big for the opening and did not open and close properly. aarghh! So after cutting the slot I enlarged the gap and welded it back together. I also cut the other weld and realigned the door. When I got home I found that one of the generator mounting bolts had dropped away. Now working on re-mounting the generator.
Also pulled the steering wheel and finally patched the cracks. Mounted a new tail light and am preparing to mount the other.
Having a lot of fun with it.

First time I have driven it since all this work has been going on. The new MC is apparently the wrong size piston for my brake set up...needs a larger piston so the peddle travel is shorter. As it is now it almost goes to the floor before it stops...but it does stop. I'm thinkin' this is an unnecessary added expense since the MC was designed for this IFS I bought. I could get used to it but right now it feels really dicey to me.
It drives great compared to before...cannot deny that and I'm really happy. Shop is doing one more check over before I bring it home tomorrow. Next week the headers and intake/carbs go on. That'll likely be it.
Pretty happy camper here...the MC issue will get solved. | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | Polished up my (replacement)headlight trim and windshield centre bar, kindly gifted to me by fellow 'bolter NEALS49. Also, last week i was trying to find fuel pipes for 54 3/4 ton. Jim carter has them for 1/2. I emailed their tech support and they said they do not carry them for 3/4 ton and suggested i try lester harris. I phoned lester and who probably thought i was a little nuts that i just don't build them. Spent some time on stoveblot. Great debate about flaring tools.
