| | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 62 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 62 | Rochester 1958 carb rebuilt last summer ran fine, ran fine this summer.Got on high way for 50 miles drove fine at difrent speeds,got off high way died out at idal.The idal was very low picked up idal to normal runs fine.What is the cause of my low idal problem, it ran that way for a year no problem.Any ideas what is going on.Thanks

Points with too close of an opening will work OK with a little RPMs, as they seem to bounce or are thrown some, and fail at idle.
Over time as the rubbing block wears the points close up.
I'm not saying it is not carb, just that I have seen just what I described.
