Marty | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | The 1954 parts book is showing them as a replacement as being interchangeable but my 61 books has them separated.
The Power Glide starter has four field coils and the stick has two from the factory.
It is a mystery why the early parts books would do this as the two field starter is a little weak to turn over the Power Glide setup.
The tag on the starter will tell which one it is.
