From all the pictures and a couple of the glove box doors I have seen the area between the raised bars were painted. They were painted the same off gray/brown that was the interior color. The raised bars were left polished.

The raised bars weren't left polished because the speaker grill was not made of stainless steel like the glove box door. If you check some of the suppliers like Chevs of the 40s etc. you will see examples of pre painted glove box doors that will give you some idea of the paint color combination.
Also, if you watch a short video I have in my photobucket link about 'cold starting' my truck, you will see the correct paint pattern altho the lighter color I used was silver which is not the correct color. Please don't laugh at my video. | | |
