The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline 1952 King Pins

Hey All, I have just noticed that my king pin on my passenger side is falling out. I figured I would replace both sides. I am having an issue I can't figure out from the shop manual though. To remove the rear spindle, do I have to disassemble the entire brakes or can I remove the spindle from the back by itself? It looks like four bolts hold it on from the back and I would be able to just unbolt from their but I am not 100% sure. Thanks all! John

Hy Kinser1970, if you can access and remove the bolts that bolt the backing plate to the spindle with the brakes in place, then yes you could do that. Don't lose the spacers that install between the backing plate and spindle, and don't allow the backing plate assembly to put any stress on the flexible brake line, hope that helps.
