I think the old Alternator is going bad. Is there anything special i have to do? it has been converted to 12 volts. Can I go to the auto parts store and pick one up.

Haven't I seen you somewhere before? Could you say why you think it is going out and if you have done any tests. Just replacing it might be like throwing your hard earned loot away.

Most auto parts stores test alternators for free.

IF you do decide to buy a new alternator, I strongly urge you to put a Delco 12si in there -- alternators just don't get any better, in my opinion.
