The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Panels 'N Burbs Something from nothing?

Over the last few days I have been rebuilding my rear quarters on my 58 Panel. Unfortunately, they were rusted out and replaced with aluminum flashing and rebuilt with long strand filler. Here is a sample . And Here is another.
I cut out the openings from some step side fenders and welded them in with rocker replacements. Now it looks like this and like this. I haven't installed the fender stay to hold the front of the opening in closer to the frame. I think it is pretty close, but by the time I cut everything out the new panel was hanging in space. I carried the line back from the door and tried to compare the positioning to some pictures. I hadn't found Stovebolt.com yet which has some good dimensional pictures. I also am concerned that where it wraps under behind the rear wheel it is not the right shape. Any feedback from people who look at this shape often? Of course I won't be entering any contests with it!

looks pretty close, except the rocker under the door should end about even with the back of the door .... my buddies finished panel is stored here, I'll take some similar pics later

sorry Ted, can't get at it well enough to get pics, but there's some pics in my TF stuff album that show a bit - turns out on closer examination his door step rockers have been welded/filled right into the back body rockers, he had a bodyman do the steps and the guy built from scratch instead of using the patch steps but as I said, yours looks pretty good, nobody will know any difference from original

it's a '56, belongs to a good friend who has stashed it at my place while dealing with family health issues, we need to get the leaking trans repaired in time for his son to use it in the grad parade this year .... it is for sale haven't been over in years Ted, might in daBus eventually, or when my panel project is done

I've got a 58 Suburban that is all original. The drivers side is a rock solid except for behind the rear tire. The passenger side has been treated to some bondo in the back quarter. I can take some close up photos if that will help. Just let me know exactly what you're looking for.

I am most interested in the back corner looking upwards and forwards to the rear wheel opening. Some pictures look like it is quite vertical, but others have a rounded shape that wraps under. Thanks Larry - I appreciate your help.
