Hello, does ACDelco still make a 6 volt distributor and cap and ignition coil for a 235 engine? If they do does anyone know the part numbers and where I can buy them.

Hy mauricioaglr, firstly we need to know what year 235 you're asking about, the caps changed in the early fifties. I tried to find out by looking at the online AC Delco catalog, but it only goes back to 1966

Hy mauricioaglr, that picture is of the casting number for the cylinder head, not the engine identification number which is stamped into a machined pad right behind the distributor. I did some more research, and the numbers I came up with are:
six volt coil, AC p/n U520
twelve volt coil AC p/n U505
early distributor cap, 52 and older AC p/n D301A
late distributor cap, AC p/n D307, hope that helps.

You guys are tring to find part numbers for 60 year old engines.
Delco probably quit making them 30 years ago. All the ignition
replacement parts are avalable from many of the after market
vendors but they taint gonna be AC Delco.

Delco parts are found in the Delco catalog, doesn't mean you'll find them in a store .... the U406 rotor fits 1965/66 International trucks wink .... what difference does 6 or 12V make to the distributor cap and rotor? are you building a 'show quality' 46 restoration with a 58 engine?

U406 says its for a 65/66 international but if you do a cross references to napa part rr161 which is the rotor for a 58 235 it says u406. I try to use delco parts whenever possible. ill just have to buy the napa rotor since u406 does not seem to be made anymore.

I was told all AC Delco stuff was not made in America anymore, if that matters? China, Japan and Mexico to name a few.

no Denny, you missed the note:
"These items are manufactured by a variety of reputable tune up part suppliers and not necessarily by the original equipment manufacturer."

Yep, I sure did miss the note. So, why not just order the tune-up
from JC or Chevs of the 40's or such, I'd bet a dollar to a
donut that the reproduction parts all come from the same spot.
I've been using the repro parts since I brought the old gal
home in '05. Granted they taint the same quality as Delco was
and I'd rather have the origiinal Delco Remey parts but as I
said earlier, Delco probably hasn't made replacements for
several decades. The original Delco coils actually fit the
clamps and the terminals clips held the wire terminals much
better. The point sets, caps and rotors were made, well, just
better and fit better. But at least we do have someone that is
making a replacement even if it's not quite up to snuff.
We've got similar problems with many other old school manufacturers,
such as Walker, who used to make complete exhaust systems for
these old truck but now you can't even get a muffler that
matches the original from them.

I believe Delco slowly moves up the years dropping things from the lists, pretty much the oldest actual Delco available now is mid-late 60's, but it's sometimes the case that some items listed for newer applications [and other makes] are actually the same part that was previously listed/sold for earlier GM vehicles, like the rotor discussed above .... but all the tuneup stuff for the 235 is available from NAPA around here, don't see why anyone would want to order something from a distant source and have the problems involved with returning a defective or incorrect part

also, rotors, caps and other ignition parts don't have a makers name emblazoned on them anyway and Standard being such a major brand, even stuff in Delco boxes could be from Standard wink
