I was wondering where the break line was on the 1/2 ton AD trucks for the interior paint and the exterior color? Does the interior color stop at the windlace or at the seam of the panels on the door jams??

Also I see on Jim Carter they list gray as the interior color on the 1953 trucks, instead of the brown (champange) color. Is this correct?

Red is the original color on my truck
I found evidence of it here

You can see the body color wraps a little into the jam.

Same on the striker side

Could be different from plant to plant.

Some one else will have to chime in on the interior color for you
Good luck

John

On my 53PU (assembled in the Oakland plant) the paint break line in the jamb is where the outer body skin rolls over and meets the jamb.

That's is where I figured it broke at for the 2 colors. Thanks John

sstock, Did your truck come with the side mounted spare tire or did you add it yourself?? I see drawings in the Tech Tips for modifying a rear fender for an external spare tire mounting. I got the extra rear fender here.... :-)

1953 standard cab interior color:
Sheen Gray Poly - PPG (31104; now 27467)
Sheen Gray Metallic - Dupont (202-81407)

Supposedly, in 1953 some plants continued to paint the regular cab interiors the same color as used in previous years.

What kind of 1953 truck do you have?

As posted above, the transition point between exterior and interior colors is where the outer sheet-metal "skin" ends.

My truck is a 3 window cab. No stainless trim around the front windshield (just the center divider is stainless) or rear window.
