Are you sure it is smoke and not water vapor? As the engine warms up,surfaces that were cooler are now being warmed up, including the oil. Sort of like when you put cold water in a glass on a warm summer day, you get moisture forming on the ouside of the glass. Tempeature contrasts cause moisture to form on metal surfaces inside the engine.
