I'm working on a 47 2 ton Loadmasters rear brakes, the brakes under load seem to be locking up after going in reverse and dumping the load, anyone have an idea what is causing this, it drives fine when you first start driving it, once you get a load and after you dump they act up, the owner says it only happens after he goes in reverse and hits the brakes to dump the load, I noticed after checking it out yesterday the emergeny brake cables were disconnected from their levers and hanging, could this possibly cuse the problem, like an auto adjust mechanism acting up, please help guys this gentlemen uses this truck daily, I'm also working on his 1957 hotrod Belair, his chopped top 1947 Internation 1/2 ton, and a 1931 chopped top Ford 2 dr sedan

Hy hotrod dad, welcome, firstly there is no auto adjust mechanism on that year of truck. The brake shoes are anchored at the bottom, not floating as modern brake shoes are, the only things I can think of is possibly a broken return spring, or the wheelcylinder pistons are partially seized in their bores, and when you stop while backing it is jamming the piston to a tighter spot in the bore from which it does not return easily, hope that helps.
