Well, Since I could not decide on paint colors for my 1950 3600, I am just going with the original color which is Windsor Blue.

The entire truck will be Windsor Blue with black running boards, black wheels, black bumpers, black bed strips and some black accents (Chevy Lettering, etc..) The interior will be white and I'll do something like a two tone seat or ??

Anway, I've updated my album as the bed is about complete and the truck will be heading to the shop shortly.

Unless the truck has been painted that darker blue, I believe
the original color that was on it was the correct mariner blue,
not the powder puff blue of the sample you show.
Don't know if your shooting for an original restoration or not
Dave but your close.
The black is correct cept for the CHEVROLET lettering, which was
not painted and the bumper, which on a '50 commercial would
have been chrome. Also the bed wood would have been painted
black also.
And of course I'm sure your aware that the interior wasn't
originally white.

Yes, the truck was painted, not sure when. I think the original color was windsor blue so that's what I went with. I'm not shooting for an original restoration, however, period correct will work fine. I had thought about buying some repo chrome bumpers, but thought it would be a good idea to use the originals. As the price for re-chroming is too high, I thought it OK just to paint them for now. If I want to change them in the future, it would be easy to do.

The bed wood will be stainied dark. I like the idea of a nice clean white interior so that's what I'm going with.

I'll update everyone as things progress.

The Windsor Blue seems to be very close to Transport Blue which is an original 54 color. I tracked down a Transport Blue restoration in Atlanta recently (because I am now completely obsessed with finding these trucks anywhere I travel now). I thought the color was great on the truck. You might enjoy these photos

You give the indication in your posts that you want to go back to the original lighter blue color (Windsor Blue, in 1950) that apparently is under the darker Blue (looks like a Mariner Blue) paint that is now on your truck.

Is that right? Windsor Blue is an original 1950 color. That 1947-1952 color, and the later 1953-1955st Transport Blue, were quite common on Advance-Design trucks I saw in the south in the 60s.

I used the orginal PPG paint code for windsor blue from 1950 to get this color. It's PPG paint, base coat, clear coat. I really could not decide on colors or paint schemes so my goal is to have something that is 'period' correct. I can see some parts of the truck that show the original color and this looks close. I think the interior was brown/tan color and I am changing that to white, simply because I think it will look good. I already have new black wheels. I have the original bumpers that we are sanding and preparing for paint rather then going with an aftermarket chrome... Or having these re-chromed ($$$$)

That is not transport blue. Transport is darker and even has a greenish tint.

Greg - I stand corrected. The truck I saw in Atlanta was advertized as Transport Blue but I was taking their word for it. Thanks for the clarification (beautiful truck)!
