Sabrina "MexicoSab" Iturbe's Mother, Deljeanne "Dej" Barreda, passed away peacefully at her home today, March 8, 2013 at approximately 5:30 A.M. Pacific Time.

Jeanne's handle here at the 'Bolt was "Dej". I'm sure that only a scant few of you knew her as she tended to sit and read Posts instead of adding her own opinions. But she did love this website. This is where I met her in 2006 via her daughter Sabrina (MexicoSab).

Dej could be sweet as pie one minute and ornery as heck the next. That's probably why we got along so well cause I'm about the same way.

I can't tell you what we talked about over the years because I simply don't remember. Too many conversations and too much information. I can simply say that she was a pleasure to talk with. Even when we had arguments I enjoyed it, because I knew we would still be friends later on.

She loved music. I was extremely surprised that a woman of her age would enjoy some of the music that I listen to.

A few years ago Dej went to the hospital to have back surgery. She hated doctors and hospitals, but she did it anyway. About a week after her back surgery, while still at the hospital, she decided to have major hip replacement surgery. I told her to wait, but she wanted to "get it done all at one time and get it over with".

Things didn't get better after that.

I won't say any more, but I know that Sabrina & Alberto spent the next couple of years taking care of Jeanne the best they could.

I'm sorry my friend is gone. I miss talking to her. I'm glad to know that she passed peacefully.

BTW she loved music by Jackson Browne, and she fell in love with Three Times A Lady by the Commodores if you care to hear.

I'm not sure if I was ever as good as I thought I was, but I know I'm not as good as I used to be.
I've forgotten more than I ever knew. Okay, where did I put it?

It was so much fun when Dej first showed up ... and we found out she was Sab's Mom!!! She certainly fit in quite well with the regular gang, and she did seem to find a special connection with a few, like you Davey.

When Stovebolting is a "family affair," it is rather inspiring.

Davey, thanks for including her. I was able to snag a nice photo of her and Sab from, you'll never guess, Dej's signature line. grin And Fred, that link you have of the old truck is actually the second part of her signature. She only made one post but sure was a big fan.
