Here's a new picture. I have painter's tape and a rag in the door until I can get the bumpers and a weatherstrip put on. http://s1094.photobucket.com/user/n...ruck_zpsd4cc114e.jpg.html?sort=6&o=0

That's on my schedule for tomorrow.

Nice thumbs_up

I saw all that red and thought "must be a Cornhuskers fan", then clicked back to your post and sure enough, Lincoln, Nebraska. wink

Thanks guys! John, you are correct about the Big Red, that was funny. I got infected right after I moved to Lincoln about 20-years ago. I figured "re-sale red" wasn't a bad color and I can take it downtown on game day!

I didn't get the weather striping in today but I did get the hood on. I also got one fender back from the paint shop. I've got something to work on this week. I'll post a few more pics when I get both fenders on.

Tom,
What exactly did you do to get your hood looking good? By that I mean, most hoods have issues with rust around the front panel and maybe elsewhere too. So I'm curious if you had to find a good hood from Arizona (not that Nebraska hoods are all bad).

I've talked to one person who had all his hood panels completely disassembled, treated for rust and then reassembled. Not an easy task.

I currently have 3 decent hoods. I plan to disassemble the worst one and see how tough the restoration is.

Jay,

I really lucked out with the hood. It is actually a Colorado truck. I'm the third Owner and the second Owner only had it for a few months. He bought it from the original Owner and was going to fix it up for his son but his son showed no interest in a truck.

How I bought it is actually funny. I wanted one of these since I was 12. My older brother had one. He is six years older than me so of course I idolized everything he did. I remember how cool it was riding around with him.

Well I'd been following these on ebay for quite a while and saw this one. The price was unbelievable. I figured no way it was going to go for the bid and I put a low ball in and I actually won. It was Christmas and the wife and I were driving back to our families in Iowa when I got the "You are the winning bidder" message on my phone. My wife had no clue. I waited to tell her until all her family was around and she couldn't give me the 5th degree. She's actually been really cool and supportive the whole time. Anyway that's probably more than you wanted to know.

John ought to like the fact I took a Colorado truck and turned it into a Nebraska Big Red truck.

Good story. I'm glad your hood was fine and you didn't have to hunt for a good one.
