on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 27 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 27 | I have a 1966 C10 longbed with a 250 I6 from a 1974 vehicle. I am trying to hookup a new exhaust front pipe (Walker 48111) and was wondering if a flange donut is required with this pipe? The pipe is formed at the manifold end to look like a donut gasket and if I add a donut gasket the flange will not reach the studs as the donut makes the connection too thick. Plus, there is no flare on the pipe so the donut does not seal well there. It looks to me like I just forgo the gasket and use the pipe as is. I was just wondering if anyone else has done this. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy Cougar, there are flange gaskets which are flat on one side and domed on the other side, if you post the I.D. of the manifold I can provide you a Walker part number for this type of flange gasket, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 27 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 27 | Hy Cougar, there are flange gaskets which are flat on one side and domed on the other side, if you post the I.D. of the manifold I can provide you a Walker part number for this type of flange gasket, hope that helps. The only numbers I see on the exhaust manifold are on the right hand side near the #6 runner. It has a large GM600 with 328 below the GM600 and 44 on the #6 runner itself. The only other numbers are on the intake. Are these the numbers you need? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy Cougar, what I need is the inside diameter of the exhaust manifold where the exhaust pipe attaches to it. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 27 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 27 | Here are a few pictures of the pipe and flange as well as a picture of my exhaust manifold casting numbers. Pipe_Flange3 Pipe_Flange Exhaust_Manifold Hy Cougar, what I need is the inside diameter of the exhaust manifold where the exhaust pipe attaches to it. Inside diameter of exhaust manifold at outlet is slightly over 2" (2.02"). The edge of the outlet is beveled.

You may have to tighten things up again after everything has been up to operating temerature, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 27 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2012 Posts: 27 | I guess I'll try it that way and hope it seals up especially after a few heat cycles. If anyone has used this pipe this way I would appreciate knowing. Thanks! | | |
