Is there much customizing required to get 54 check arms to fit on 58 Panel barn doors? A fellow bolter has a set, and I am sure they are hard to come by.

Thanks all.

they have some obvious differences, but are quite similar - I only have pics of the AD ones so don't know if the dimensions [particularly of the mounting holes] are close enough to work - it's likely they can be made to do the job, but if you can get lengths of both arms on one as well as the hole spacing I could compare to the TF ones I have here

easier maybe, I got the measurements, have him check his AD ones against this, mount at top right goes on jamb above door [arm has a bend not obvious in the pic but bumper is up off table], mount on left attaches to top of door where there are already threaded holes [I think AD arms don't have the 'ear' on the end]

Ok, I'll ask the stupid question... What are "check arms?" Are they what keeps the barn doors from flying around and smashing against the body when the doors are opened??

Thanks

yes Larry, like this, mount at top of doors, they hold the doors straight out or allow them to open wide enough to point out to the sides

Bill;

Roger. At least that is one thing I don't have to worry about finding. Now if I could just get a set of liftgate cables for my clamshell I'd be all set!

Larry

Thanks

Ted,

I have a '53 panel; if you don't buy the '54 arms, would you please give me the seller's info.

Thanks, Larry

I am a little late on this one, but anything can be fabricated to make due, is that what you want? The 1947/55 rear cargo door checks are different from the 1955/59 cargo door checks.

Ted, G is right you can make anything work but if you have patience and wait, you will find the right ones with an ad in wanted and watch the internet. That would be much better. It's always nice to have the right part. They are still out there. They still make the rubber bumpers for them also. If you are not picky, the proper sized gas springs will work nicely. O'reilly's, etc. Mounted at top.
