Okay its an all original 59 chev, 2 owners before me, V8 truck the engine is orange. What colors were V8's in the 1960 trucks? I wonder if later 59's engine painting production lines were all changed to just same color for trucks and cars?

All original? How many miles does it show?

The writer of the old article knew/knows more about engine colors than most of us do. Read carefully the paragraph/disclaimer that states the over-riding principle that was followed in getting engines painted and in keeping them moving on the assembly line.

Miles is around 70,000 or so. And other than some rust it looks about like that amount, pedal wear etc. And a good coating of stock oil and dirt on engine stuff. Casting numbers look correct, the PO said nothin was done to the engine as far as he knows, he's known the truck since it was fairly new.

Let me know if Bill's link works (it is my original website that has not been updated for over 8 years). I'll be able to keep that hosting service (my employer) for a few more years (until I retire), but I do not update the files/web-pages on that server.

That page at Bill's link is not the original engine-color article (it is transposed copy of the words). On my "active" website, I have posted a copy of the original PnPP article by Robert Hensel of the VCCA (same information).

should settle any question about engine color that one might
