Very exciting find on CL this week. Drug in home today in the cold and rain. Worth every minute of misery.
1966 C10 longbed fleet. I plan to part it out. The cab is very nice. Doors, hood and fenders all usable. Giving bed to a friend who needs one. I am the 3rd owner. It has 110K miles and it's all there right down the hubcaps and spare. Unmolested!

Very nice... no rust hole in the fender big_eek

Would you rate this as a "typical" South Carolina quality for a '66? Or better than typical?

I guess it's a better than average truck for a 66, however the only ones I have seen in person have been in the scrap yard. Not a fair comparison.

The rust is there in the DS fender, just not coming thru yet. Both fenders will need the lower rear patch panel at minimum. I will need to inspect all the panels carefully. The PS door is exceptionally nice. The DS door needs a new skin because it's badly dented, but both door bottoms are great. Just needs a skin.

Many trucks in SC suffer the weather all year long for their whole life, so many have the typical bad rust along the doors and rockers and cab corners. The ones that do get shelter are pretty nice because there is no salt on the roads. Near the Atlantic coast however, all bets are off.

I grew up in southwestern Ohio. The salt they use on the roads in the winter, combined with the year around wet climate, was horrible on vehicles.

Always loved the classic Chevy trucks but they were all so horribly rusty. My dad bought a '72 C20 new and I watched painfully as it became one again with planet Earth. dang

Then when we moved to Colorado about 10 years ago it was truly amazing the quantity & quality of old trucks lurking around old barns and in farm fields. thumbs_up

When I bought my '65 here in Colorado it was priced fair, but would have been worth twice what I paid back in the Buckeye State.

Hey lugnutz. Nice find. If you're parting it out I may be interested in the hubcaps if they are not dented or rusted.
I would love to find one like that I could drive while I make some much needed repairs on my 64.

Well, I will part this one out. I need the fenders and the hood is exceptionally nice. The cab is great and will be sold with 2 doors on the frame and probably all the glass too.

The hub caps are correct for 1966 but there is plenty of rust. They are worthy of a full restoration, but some people want them rusty. Last set I sold were in worse shape and sold on eBay for $70 plus S&H.

I just ran the serial# on the engine and it's a 250 from a 71 or a 72 truck. I was told it runs. I sure hope it does, cause my original 230 has bad compression numbers on a few cylinders.
