In a 2011 Summer Eastwood catalog they have a compressed air paint sprayer, its like a spray can that you pump up to use. It does not use a cartridge for pressure it has a tire type valve, you fill it with paint and pressurize it with air and go for it. Its on Page 66 and number
11181, its called "Eastwood Rechargeable Aerosol"
It is discontinued. I've seen others that you have to keep buying propellant for I personally don't want to have to keep buying or trying to hunt down discontinued propellant cartridges. So I'm looking for something like this sprayer.

Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

You might try this: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=11318517

Watch the demo. Olive oil is thick so it probably would spray paint.

if you don't want to get a compressor to use a 'real' spray setup, look into an airless sprayer

I'm sure Harbor Freight would have one as would other suppliers as it is a pretty common item.

Wayne67vert: That thing from BB&B is amazing, might just work for small spot work. Wonder if you can clean the paint out with laquer thinner? Might just melt all the innards??

What's wrong with a small cheap air brush? HF sells one for about the price of that BBB thing and it won't melt when you put reducer it it to clean...

any GOOD paint supplier will mix/match any color and put it in an aerosol can for you. If you have a hard time finding a place call Automotive Color and Supply in Indianapolis - 4415 Saguaro Trail, Indianapolis, (317) 290-8690

I bought one of those rechargeable spray cans from J.C. Whitney years ago. You put the mixed paint in it and charged it with an air compressor. Wasn't worth a dime for painting, it doesn't lay down a very smooth paint job, has spits and splats as you go. The only plus I got from it was it came with an 18" long accessory tube and 4 way spray head that I would attach to regular spray can rust preventive primer and spray inside panels with it..... save your money.
Best thing I've found for painting small items and trimming is a small spray trim gun. You can buy one at HF for about 20 bucks or so....

I have a compressor, but I also have an 'unreal' HVLP airless (turbine) sprayer that is superior in all regards to a compressor sprayer. Takes up almost no space and cost much less than a good compressor (which I also bought later to power a blast cabinet).
