Saw these over the weekend on a GMC

I like the hooks and how he incorporated his tall lamp into it.
Anybody know if the tie down hooks are available anywhere?

Is that perhaps something OEM added to the military version?

I'm betting those were got from a hardware store back in the 50's. They look similar to hooks you can still get from most hardware stores.

They do look OEM
I had not seen them before on the rails.


The links were working, it's a brown/beige GMC

Betcha a trailer seller or parts supplier would carry something close.

Just double checked the links and while they load direct to the photo on my PC as you said, they still load the gallery page on my BB. I figure thats a BB/Picasa issue. I wonder if apple of google based phones load the photo or the gallery. Any users out there?

And here's where they are located (for the moment) on my 58 GMC bed... clearly not OEM though no doubt sturdier for "Forest Service Duty" that way
(And yes it's standing up on end in my garage)

CASO -

DADS50 pic links load the entire album on my iPhone 4S. The single pic in the link loads on my HP Windows 7 laptop. I usually find the pic in the album on my iPhone ... just takes a little scrolling.

'They' like to make the mobile users jump around more and offer less content I think. I suspect the more pages loaded the more band width used the more ad's sold the more $$$ in someones grand cayman account.. I stay on wifi for my morning mobile surfing but I was also just starting my first cup of coffee and not really ready to surf yet.

I used to have the hooks like what's under your top rail. I remember taking them off in 1981 and put them in a coffie can, had the square nuts.

The ones on your side look similar to what the GMC has, he must of just contoured them to fit the angle of the rail.

those hooks identical to CASO's are at my local hardware/builders supply stores, no nubs on the end, I put them on the inside of the box on my 58 cuz the holes were already there - the slight bend on the AD was a DIY job

I have the same bed hook style on my 54 . there is also another type of bed hooks that are in the middle of the bed.

Anyone know where you can get those? I have a 53 1 ton GMC and I have the holes from them but no parts to mount.

I have a pair of these cleats/hooks below the tailgate on my '48 Chevy 1/2 ton. It was a Road Department vehicle back in the day. It is believed that these we used to hold a tarp in place.

I would like to find replacements as well. These mysterious holes can drive a guy crazy!

I have a set of lights like that,and has the typical bolt with wires running through it, so to me it looks like he enlarged the second bolt hole in the hook and the paint almost gives it a one piece look. Just my 2 cents, Mike.
