Last year when I replaced the brake shoes and drums, etc., I noticed that the front left wheel had some play when I pushed/pulled it at 12 o'clock and six o'clock. I could move it in and out about 1/8 -1/4 inch. How much play is OK? Is there an easy way to determine if anything is worn out and needs replacing? That said a lot depends on what you want from your truck. A little play in the king pins is tolerable. If it still has the original tie rod ends & drag link, they are adjustable. Make sure all the grease fittings take grease & lube the kinhpins especially well. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | If your wheel bearings are not loose and the movement is coming from the king pins, I would advise repairing them. Eventually the slop can damage the spindle holes and then you would have to look for replacements. | | |
